In a world where the news seems to be somber day in and day out, it’s been nice to see companies rallying together for the sake of humanity. This week, Lamborghini announced that they have shifted production in their factories to produce masks and medical shields.
Lamborghini is stepping up and listening to the call for help for much needed medical supplies, a current shortage worldwide, by making their contribution. Lamborghini chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali, said: “During this emergency, we feel the need to make a concrete contribution. We will win this battle together by working in union, supporting those who are at the forefront of fighting this pandemic every day.”
The Italian supercar company is shifting gears and making essential supplies at its Sant’Agata Bolognese manufacturing center in Italy amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Italy has been the country hit the hardest after China and the entire country has been in quarantine for months as part of the fight. The masks will be donated to the Sant’Orsola-Malpighi Hospital in Bologna.
They are currently producing 1000 surgical masks and 200 face shields a day. Thanks to 3D printing, face shields have been much easier to fabricate in this his demand period.
Lamborghini has been collaborating with the regional government as well as health authorities to ensure that the medical equipment is approved and up to proper specs/requirements.
Other automotive companies such as Ford, GM and the Mercedes-AMG Formula teal have also joined in efforts to help do what they can during this global crisis. This makes us wonder, is this a teachable moment? What should we be learning about what is going on today? There is a reason why the entire globe was put at a stand-still while we are all spending more time with our families, helping our communities, and reconnecting with nature. Let’s keep up the positivity and we just might come out of this pandemic better than ever.
